Yesterday’s announcement re: job losses was hard to hear. It’s easy to be defined in terms of what job you do and when that’s taken away, not only do lose the financial support but you can lose a sense of purpose and being, even if you did not like the job that much. Five things that may help through this time:

  • Stay positive, it was the job that was made redundant not you as an individual
  • Make a routine that replaces the structure having a job gives you
  • Think about what you like doing, what you are good at doing and what you would like to learn/improve on
  • Look at the sort of skills that you have that could be transferred to other jobs. It’s clear that the job market is going to change, is changing ,so be adaptable
  • Make a plan, get help, talk to people, go online.
