Working hours:

Full time – 37.5 hours a week or 4 days week with evening functions/meetings as necessary.

Purpose of the role

As CEO of BABICM, the post holder is responsible for working with the Council and Board to determine the organisation’s overall vision, strategy, and direction. They are responsible for providing the Council and the Board with strategic advice and guidance.

The CEO is responsible for the overall performance of the staff and resources of the organisation in delivering the strategic and operational plans for BABICM.

BABICM’s vision encompasses the following purposes for our organisation:

  • Providing CPD opportunities.
  • Providing Member resources.
  • Advocating on behalf of the Membership.
  • Promoting and educating about case management.
  • Offering opportunities for peer support and networking.
  • Evolving and adapting to remain current and relevant.
  • Contributing to the evidence base through research and publication.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide information to and advising the Council and the Board on the formulation of the strategic and business plans.
  • Work with the Council and the Board to develop BABICM’s strategic and operational plans
  • Overseeing delivery of the strategic plan.
  • Understand the changing context for Case Managers and the delivery of healthcare, to consider the impact for the Case Managers. 
  • Developing and improving the accessibility of research evidence to support case management.

 

Member engagement, communication and representation

  • Engage with the membership to understand the current issues, future opportunities and concerns and how BABICM can support members.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with members and represent their interests in a wide range of external settings, securing influence and negotiating on members’ behalf.
  • Work with the membership to provide policy positions to inform external stakeholders ensuring that the role of case mangers is understood fully.
  • Provide strategic and operational communications for external audiences.
  • Act as an ambassador for the profession, highlighting the role and benefit of case management.
  • Influence key opinion formers on the positive role of case management.
  • Engage and enhance volunteer time and skills from within the membership.

 

Governance and Compliance 

  • Work with the Council and the Board to ensure that they can discharge their governance, constitutional, employment and legal responsibilities.
  • Ensure that the appointment of Officers, Council Members and Committee members is carried out correctly. Act as the Returning Officer when required.
  • Ensure that complaints and concerns are dealt with an appropriate manner.
  • Establish and maintain robust compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the compliant and proper use of membership data within the organisation.
  • Work with the Council, the Board and staff to ensure the development and maintenance of a strategic and operational risk framework.
  • Responsible for devising HR policies and procedures.

 

Financial and performance

  • Lead the central team in creating the annual budget.
  • Oversee the organisation’s financial health and ensure the appropriate financial planning, controls and monitoring of risks are in place.
  • Ensure appropriate information is given the Council to enable them to make well-informed decisions.
  • Establish the development of a performance matrix and measures to improve the work of the organisation.

 

Leadership  

  • Lead, develop and manage a first-class staff team and be a positive role model for the organisation.
  • Ensure that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is reflected in all of BABICM’s work.

Person Specification

Experience, Knowledge and Key Attributes

Essential

Desirable

Senior leadership experience in an organisation working with a Board/ Council, Staff and volunteers from the professions.

 

Working with others to develop strategic and operation plans.

 

Experience and understanding of working in a professional membership body.

 

A natural and effective communicator, and able to act as effective ambassador in a wide range of settings, including public speaking and with multiple stakeholders.

 

Sound experience of supporting and delivering robust governance systems and structures.

 

Understanding of financial and risk management.

 

Able to utilise suite of IT packages, including Microsoft, Excel

 

Successful budget and business management. Strong commitment to deliver value for money to the membership.

 

Understanding of the principles of data governance and data management.

 

Commitment, interest and passion for the work of case management.

 

Clear understanding of the current National Health strategy and policies and how those relate to our organisation on a day-to-day basis.
